Movie Review –  Lucky Baskhar  (Netflix)

For those of us who remember the Harshad Mehta scam and the market crash that followed, Lucky Bhaskar serves up a nostalgic throwback, but with its own spicy twists. The story of Bhaskar—a modest cashier turned Assistant General Manager at Magada Bank—takes you on a whirlwind of greed, schemes, and moral dilemmas.

The movie begins with Bhaskar, an “ordinary man,” grappling with life’s disappointments. His journey from petty scams to high-stakes fraud is as audacious as it is gripping. His cunning rise is exhilarating, though his growing arrogance makes you both admire and detest him in equal measure. When Suraj, PA to the notorious Harshad Mehra (reel name) entangles him further in the scam, Bhaskar is at a tipping point. He turns the plate, becomes the victim, acts the whistleblower and exits the drama. Bhaskar delivers his iconic line, It’s not important how you cheat but when to put an end to it, signaling his exit strategy. Armed with 100 crores (a modest sum, of course), he bids adieu to India and starts a new chapter as a restaurant owner in the USA. Talk about a plot twist!

If you’re in the mood for a slick, entertaining watch that blends financial drama with a touch of Bollywood flair, Lucky Bhaskar is worth your time. Who knew being stuck indoors could lead to such a time pass.

Dulquer Salman and Meenakshi Chaudary stand out as the lead pair. Nice to see some old faces like Ramki and Tinnu Anand in interesting cameos.
